LinkAble is a Woking based charity that supports people with a learning disability and autistic people to create the life they want to live. Each year, we provide over 300 children, young people, and adults access to a wide range of activities that develop skills, confidence, and lasting friendships.

Group Leader - Evening Activities

We are looking for experienced Group Leaders to run our weekly adult evening social clubs. Applicants applying for the role will have the option to Group Lead any of all of the groups. Applicants can also combine these evening positions with other daytime roles that LinkAble is recruiting for.

Job Purpose

Responsible for the effective, efficient delivery and management of the group. To manage, lead and coach the staff and volunteers. To ensure a fun, stimulating and safe environment for the people we support at all times.

Requirements

  • Recognised professional qualification – NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent would be desirable but not essential.
  • One years’ experience working with disabled adults/young people or children
  • A full driving licence is desirable but not essential
  • Can lead a small team independently and confidently
  • Is energetic, creative and responsible
  • Brings new ideas and uses their initiative
  • Is patient and understanding with the people we supportwhilst supporting our attendees and willing to adapt and be flexible during sessions.
  • Willing to support with personal care where needed.
  • Is over 18 years of age
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

About the role

  • Job Type: Part-time
  • Pay: £14.46 per hour (including holiday pay)
  • Expected hours: Dependant on how many groups you are group leader for the range is 1.5 – 10 hours per week

Minibus driver

To support the running of our busy play and activity sessions for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities by driving one of our two minibuses. Sessions run during the day, after school, in the evenings, at weekends and in school holidays. 

We are looking for a team of drivers with varying availability but in particular school holidays.

  • Pay: £15 per hour
  • Expected hours: 2 – 12 per week

Key Tasks

  • Drive one of our minibuses to various local community venues such as Bocketts
  • Farm where are children, young people and adults are visiting. Wait at the venue and drive the children back to The Link.
  • Pick up children from local schools to bring them to our centre in Woking.
  • Take adults out to local community venues, either waiting for them or returning at the end of the day.
  • Report any issues with the vehicle or the journey to the Group Leader for the session.
  • Complete vehicle checks.

Required Skills

  • Physically fit and a careful driver who is confident in driving larger vehicles.
  • To take the required minibus drivers training you are required to be over 21, have been driving for 3 years and have a clean driving license. Some vehicles require a D1 license.
  • Be confident interacting with children, young people and adults who have learning disabilities, with support alongside other staff.
  • Committed to safeguarding principles and reporting and to following the Safeguarding Policy.
  • Commitment to equality and diversity and following policies and procedures.

After School Club Worker

We have a position in our After School Club team, looking after children with additional needs, You will deliver a wide range of activities for children and young people with learning disabilities (SEND) and autistic children on four afternoons a week, after school hours have finished. 

Hours of work

  • 2:45pm - 6:30pm
  • Monday - Thursday, during term-time

We are looking for staff to cover at least two days a week, preferably four days but not essential. This role can also be done alongside our Playworker roles on Saturday and Sundays.

Requirements

  • Qualifications - GCSE or equivalent
  • Experience looking after or working with children
  • Some cooking skills and experience is desirable
  • A driving license is desirable if you're over 21, as some of our staff drive the minibus to collect the children from school and bring them back to our centre.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Job Type: Part-time
  • Pay: Up to £13.68 per hour
  • Expected hours: 4 – 15 per week
