Volunteer Story: Freya's Experience as an Office Administrator at LinkAble

Freya volunteered with LinkAble for six months as an Office Administrator.

Read about the skills and experience she gained during this time below.

Why did you choose to volunteer at LinkAble?  "I chose to volunteer at LinkAble as I saw it as a brilliant opportunity to support a charity that is truly making a positive difference in the lives of individuals with autism and learning disabilities. I was also keen to become more involved in my local community and contribute in a meaningful way."

What new skills did you develop while volunteering at LinkAble?  "Whilst working as an office administrator at LinkAble, I developed so many skills, from data analysis to creating informative posters and PowerPoints. The team were incredibly supportive and often tailored tasks to both my strengths and the areas in which I wanted to grow, allowing me to continually develop and challenge myself."

What did you enjoy the most about your time at LinkAble?  "I really enjoyed the variety of tasks I was given each week, which meant no two weeks were the same, which allowed me to learn a great deal! Most importantly, knowing that my work was contributing to such a worthwhile cause was incredibly rewarding.

The team at LinkAble are all so welcoming and friendly, and there were plenty of opportunities to get to know everyone better through team activities like an escape room and a bring-and-share lunch. This made the experience even more enjoyable!"

What are you planning to do next?   "This has been my first role in a formal office environment, and I know this experience has been invaluable in helping me to progress into a career after finishing studying. I have now secured a graduate scheme in Audit lined up, where I will continue to develop the skills I have gained here."

What advice would you give to someone thinking about volunteering at LinkAble?  "I would highly encourage anyone considering volunteering at LinkAble to apply. It is a wonderful opportunity to support an important charity while also developing personally and professionally. I am incredibly grateful for my experience and so glad that I decided to get involved."
