Hooray for Galliford Try! | LinkAble

LinkAble CEO, Alison Keeley recently returned to White Rose Lane, Woking to visit the team working at the St Dunstans Galliford Try building site as it nears completion. Since the autumn of 2017 LinkAble and the construction company have been working together. The relationship between the two organisations has gone from strength to strength and the recent cheque presentation made up of additional donations from contractors Modebest and Woodhurst Construction took the total raised by Galiford Try to £4,178 over the two years of the partnership. All of which will be used to support children and adults with learning disabilities in Woking and Surrey Heath.

Adult service users from LinkAble’s We Can Do Anything group visited the construction site at different stages of the project, staff from Galiford Try volunteered for LinkAble and service users created the artwork for the Ivor Goodsite Hoarding Competition. Some service users worked on their designs independently while others joined together as a group to create artwork on the theme of building site safety.

Lucy Shirley, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator at Galiford Try says, 'There have been many headline achievements over the past couple of years, including; various award wins, thousands of pounds raised and memories made for both us and service users alike over the course of many site visits, work experience placements and volunteering sessions.  In particular, we hope these memories and the experience gained stay with the service users for many years to come as I am sure they will for everyone from Galiford Try involved on the St Dunstans project.’

Alison Keeley, from LinkAble adds, ‘From the outset everyone Galliford Try has been a pleasure to work with. They have engaged with our adult service users providing them with opportunity to see what happens on a construction site from start to finish as well as doing fantastically with their fundraising efforts. It really is a great example of how a business can work with a local charity and make a difference and for that everyone at LinkAble is extremely grateful.'
