Rekha | LinkAble

At the end of 2020 Rekha became LinkAble's first ever remote volunteer. Based in the Midlands with family connections to Surrey Rekha contacted LinkAble about volunteering and following further conversations it soon became clear that the charity could benefit from her research skills and experience.

Rekha says "I wanted to get back into doing some research for a charity.  When I worked at Crisis before marriage and kids I was always interested in the work they did, but work and family commitments took over. Being the first ever remote volunteer for the charity is exciting and is a real plus point for me!  Due to the pandemic I had to find other work and so I have really enjoyed doing "desk top research" as I miss not doing this in my daily admin role at the NHS.
Doing research and helping identify the right trusts to apply to for funding is satisfying and vital to helping LinkAble secure the funds it needs to deliver the groups and activities it does. I am also looking forward to the future research projects that I will be working on.
Many volunteers like myself are working full time juggling being a parent and running around all day. It doesn't matter if you are unable do lots of hours, the main thing is your work is helping the charity overall. Even if it is only a few hours of work here and there."
