LinkAble Parent Trustee
LinkAble provides exciting activities for children and adults with learning disabilities. We would like to recruit a parent trustee.
What will you be doing?
Evening Trustee meetings are held about every 6 weeks. Induction and training is provided, as is support from an experienced and knowledgeable trustee and staff team. The parent trustee would form part of the Programmes Committee.
This is a great opportunity to make the most of your time whether it be by “putting something back” or building up your skills and experience for your future career. LinkAble makes a big difference in the lives of its service users – you could make a big difference to the charity. Our trustees say that they love attending our events and sessions where they can meet our service users and see directly what a difference the charity makes in people's lives.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a trustee with a range of skills and is parent of either a child or adult LinkAble service user. Generally we look for the following in all our trustees:
A demonstrable understanding of and commitment to LinkAble and its strategic objectives
An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
An ability to analyse information; use good, independent judgment; and a willingness to challenge constructively when necessary
An ability to work professionally and respectfully as a member of a team, making collective decisions which support the vision and mission
A willingness to devote the time and effort needed
LinkAble is a small charity with a community feel. Trustees often attend fundraising events and other events organised by the charity. This is by no means compulsory; it's simply one of the many enjoyable aspects of the role.
What difference will you make?
As a member of the Board of Trustees you will:
Provide strategic oversight and leadership, ensuring that LinkAble pursues its stated objectives through its vision and mission
Ensure that LinkAble operates in accordance with the principles of good governance, complying with charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
Provide guidance and support as LinkAble seeks to grow to reach more service users in Woking and Surrey Heath
What's in it for you?
LinkAble is a small charity which offers the opportunity to work with a friendly team. If you are looking for a role where you will be able to meet and speak with the service users who benefit from the work of the charity then LinkAble is definitely a charity you should consider a trustee role with. Our trustees tend to live locally and this is a great way to expand your network locally. You will be contributing to Linkable's strategy, decision-making and acting as Chair of the Finance committee. If you are interested in other areas you can expand your experience by joining other committees.
If you are interested in the role and would like further information please contact Alison Keeley, LinkAble’s CEO on 01483 770037 or [email protected] for an initial chat. We look forward to hearing from you.
