Our sessions for adults are now available online via Zoom. Here is the timetable with the outline of the week and the sessions that are on offer.
Below is an outline of the activities that we have on offer as well as some photos and videos of the adults taking part.
On Monday morning at 9am we have a Zumba session which is run by Ren. Ren usually runs the Zumba session at The Link and has very kindly carried this on for us via Zoom. We are continuing the dances that they have learnt previously and have introduced a new one in the past few weeks. In the photo below Duncan is enjoying one of the Zumba sessions at home.
At 2pm on Monday is our Stay Healthy session via Zoom. We have been discussing the changes to our lifestyles now that we are at home all the time and how this can have an impact on our health. It is still important to take care of our physical and mental health. In the sessions we have come up with ideas of ways to stay positive and try new things, such as playing board games and mindfulness colouring. We have also discussed healthy eating and exercise. We even had a yoga session together.
Our Craft Fun group is at 2pm on a Tuesday. We have been exploring lots of artwork that we can create from items that we have at home. Although we are not able to meet face to face we have been getting together via Zoom and following step by step instructions to do the crafts together. We have been very creative and so far we have made: corner bookmarks, a phone holder, origami, mindfulness colouring, paper flowers and paper weaving. We have so much more planned such as stone decorating and finger painting greetings cards. Here are some photos of our masterpieces that we have created.
On a Wednesday at 2pm we get together for a social group. It is a chance to catch up with friends and even make new ones! We have been playing games together including pictionary, bingo, heads up and quizzes. It is a chance for the adults to share their ideas and they often plan the activity for the following week.
At 2pm on a Thursday we have a Performing group online. We usually start with a warm up activity to warm up our bodies and voices. The session then involves some acting including games of charades, performing actions to help guess the word, creating our own stories saying a sentence from each person and the alphabet game. The favourite so far was retelling a story with actions where we used the story of The Gruffalo.
On a Friday at 2pm we gather for Tasty Fridays. Each week we share a recipe together of a meal or pudding that we can try at home using ingredients that are currently available in the supermarket. The group leader, Emma makes the meal at home beforehand and records it as a video. The group then watch the video in the session asking any questions about the method and preparation. This is then shared so that the adults can have a go at home cooking for their families. We have had great fun making, flapjacks, risotto, pitta pizza, cheesy ham and broccoli pasta, sponge cake and homemade custard. Many of the meals are suggested by the service users of meals they would like to learn how to make.
Here is one of the videos that have been made for Tasty Fridays. Emma shows how to make cheesy ham and broccoli pasta.
